My sister, 20 years old, always feels pain under her left breast (more like a bone pain she says).She feels this pain less once she gets her period. What could be the cause?
This is a rather unusual complaint - usually rib tenderness, also known as costochondritis, occurs at the point where the rib attaches to the chest bone (xyphoid bone) and is an inflammatory process that involves more than one rib with pain precipitated upon pressing on the involved area; usually self-limited but may require anti inflammatory drugs to resolve. In any case, affected area should be examined by a physician to know the exact cause.
