Without particular effort I feel burning pain on the top chest bone (clavicle) on the inner side under my neck.
May 3, 2014

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
Well how is the pain felt? What triggers the pain? Is there a certain position that induces the pain and makes it worse or decreases the pain? When does the pain start? Does the pain reflect to the arms or hands or shoulder or neck? Do you feel numbness in your hands or tingling? Do you exercise heavily? You have any redness or swelling? Any accompanied other symptoms?

There are several causes for the pain described, since the pain is burning, that means it is accompanied by nerve damage. It might be a compressed nerve in the area resulting from excess pressure placed on a neurovascular bundle passing between the anterior scalene and middle scalene muscles. It can affect one or more of the nerves that innervate the upper limb and/or blood vessels as they pass between the chest and upper extremity.

It can be anything. But you have to do for sure a chest radiography to rule out any intrathoracic problem.
