A sensitive skin may mean several things and causes ,it may be an allergic reaction for an irritant you use frequently or an allergen that is in the environment or it can be due to an internal medical condition that is showing in your face .
Redness of the face or Flushing may have many causes
To treat better too know the cause than to treat symptoms since if the cause is elimimnated the symptom will go ever .
The cause depend on how long has this condition been with you i mean the redness ,is it newly seen or is it long ago ,is it fixed (redness always )or is it more or less in certain circumstances ,do you have a thick skin is the redness accompanied by itching burning ,do you have scales on them ,Do you have any medical condition ...many questions will guide to the cause ,and you are the one who is the closest to figure the cause by answering the questions related to different causes .
Some of the causes that might be and how to deal with are:
>>Contact reactions that may cause contact dermatitis ,To determine the cause of a contact irritant, you'll need to figure out what might be new or different in your routine. Once you find the offender, stop using it and treat the redness with an OTC topical steroid such as hydrocortisone cream. Apply a cold-water compress to relieve any burning or swelling
Some of the possible irritants might be to check :
-environment:cold weather or dry hot weather will make the skin dehydrated and cause sensitivity and dry red skin
-things like exhaust fumes, smoke and dust – these can leave your skin feeling irritated and dirty and are pretty hard to avoid
-germs in the air sticks to your skin and is absorbed by the skin’s natural barrier. Over time, it can irritate and weaken the skin’s natural barrier, which means it can no longer do its job properly and leaves your skin feeling more sensitive.
-Hard water contains high levels of minerals like iron, magnesium and calcium, and is highly alkaline. You often see the signs of hard water around taps, sinks ,hard water can actually make skin feel more irritated.
-Avoid over cleansing & avoid harsh ingredients, try to wash with water only and when the situation is gone start one product by one to know what products your skin is sensitive for ,the best cleanses for a sensitive skin is water
-the chlorine in swimming pools and air travel can also impact skin too
-hormonal activity around period raise your sensitivity
- stress, problems at work or home, lack of sleep, bad diet or being poorly. The hormones that are affected by stress can cause your skin to slow down, if this continues for long enough your skin will not maintain and repair your barrier as quickly it should. This could lead to your skin becoming sensitive.
-food may contribute to your skin sensitivity ,watch your food ,eliminate spices and pepper and any food you thought to increase the condition, skin irritants can be ingested in the food we eat too. Give your skin the best chance of natural health by eating a balanced diet and drinking plenty of water.
- perfume, dyes and harsh chemicals are all known to irritate skin
-there are two skin care ingredients that are known to irritate are retinol and glycolic acid watch for them in creams you use and anti aging products.
-cleaner products and clothes also affect the condition remember you might have the tendency to be allergic not only to face contact products .
-Other possible cause of facial flushing that comes and goes may be ROSACEA, a chronic skin disorder,If you poke the red area with your finger and let go quickly, the redness will fade and then return rapidly as blood flows back into the area, over time, pimples may appear, the skin may itch, and blood vessels may become visible.in this case avoid rosacea triggers — common ones are sun, heat, red wine, cocoa, chili, and hard cheeses.
check with the dermatologist who will diagnose and give the necessary treatment , there are certain anti inflammatory creams that reduce the condition, there are several over-the-counter anti-inflammatory lotion that contains licorice extract (such as Eucerin Redness Relief) or feverfew (like Aveeno Ultra-Calming)
>>If they feel like acne ,this will be hormones that caused breakouts in your teens can cause them again in adulthood. Menstruation, pregnancy, and certain oral contraceptives can also spur a breakout of pimples.
if this is the cause check with your gynocologist he may prescribe certain oral antibiotics, accutane, birth control pills, or spironolactone, a hypertension drug often used off-label to treat acne
>>If the redness on your face forms a butterfly-shaped rash across your nose and cheeks, you might want to get tested for LUPUS, it is an autoimmune disease causes inflammation in various parts of the body, leading to joint pain and muscle pain , and extreme fatigue.
if this is the case ,connect with a rhematologist to investigate and order certain treatments for the case .
Treating the disease , with anti-inflammatories, corticosteroids, topical steroids, or immune suppressants usually eliminates the rash
>>Do you take any certain drug or herbal or any supplement ,they may have side effects to flush the face ,stopping the medicine will cure the condition
>>If the redness or flushing appearance for no reason ,idiopathic ,then there are certain laser treatments and anti hypertensive drugs may help in this case .
So my advice to get rid of them , is to check for the cause ,if you check with a doctor you will have the right diagnose to treat .
