My son has FMF & has been taking 1 colchecine daily for a year. He's good now, can we reduce the dosage? Anything to worry about? Should we do tests?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Only your son's treating physician can decide whether or not to reduce the dose of colchicine, and how to proceed with this, based upon the progress of his condition, by titrating the dose of the medication to the response. Colchicine may cause some adverse events at the level of the liver and blood cells. So it is important to do complete blood count (CBC) and liver enzymes regularly and have the results checked by the treating physician.
