When the taken drug is irreversible?
Sep 25, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
The overdose of any drug may result in damage in some organs, mainly the liver and kidneys, and to a lesser extent, the heart and nervous system. These damages occur regardless of the route of the administration and depend on the dose taken, the degree of absorption into the system (so in case vomiting occurs within less than 2 hours after having taken the drug, only a small portion of the administered dose will go into the system), and the harm imparted upon the organs. Sometimes the damage to the organs is extensive and irreversible, so the individual in question ends up with say liver failure, and sometimes, luckily, the damage is limited and thus reversible, with transient impairment in the function of some organs.
