What mesures can i take at home to isolate and prevent any contagion off tje varicella virus from my big son to my little new born baby.

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Chickenpox (varicella) transmission mainly occurs from person to person by airborne respiratory droplets (coughing or sneezing facing other people). Transmission is also possible by direct contact with vesicle fluid (if the vesicles are popped out) of chickenpox cases. If the infected person touches objects or articles, they will become freshly soiled by discharges from vesicles and can thus become a source of indirect transmission.
Transmission can occur from 2 days before the rash appears till the blisters turn into scabs (they become dry and form dark heads). Scabs are not infective.
From the above mentioned, the appropriate measures to follow to protect your unvaccinated baby from catching the varicella infection is by isolating him in one room and avoiding close contact with his infected brother or any of the objects his brother uses, including the bathroom. This should be maintained until the vesicles turn into scabs and become non contageous.
