What is small sessile polyp and the risk of these type of polyp.
Mar 19, 2013

Dr. Sara Hassan General Medicine
A polyp is usually defined an abnormal growth. It can be pedunculated (hanging from a stalk) or sessile, meaning it simply "sits" there. Malignancy Risk of the polyp depends on many factors : mostly on
1- if it is sessile or pedunculated
2- location of the polyp: colon, skin, nose, stomach, vocal cords etc.
3-other factors: family history, depth, number of polyps, etc.

Please check with your physician to help you sort out what type of polyp it is and whether it is benign or not.
Be well!
