We had a newborn baby girl 1 month now, and tiny red veins under the cheek skin appeared since birth, and they seem to darken more as if they are small bleeding capillaries ! What shall I do ?

Dr. Ismaël Maatouk Dermatology
I don't know if you are describing a vascular lesion, or what we call in arabic "chahweh". It can be an angioma or a vascular malformation. Anyway, let her pediatrician check her: they are usually familiar with those lesions. Otherwise, let the lesion be chcecked by a Dermatologist.

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
I agree with Dr. Maatouk, this is a vascular lesion composed of a group of malformed and very tiny blood vessels. It is usually harmless and inconsequential, and in many children it progressively involutes and shrinks as they grow older, but in others it may remain unchanged with probably come variations in its color with time. Of course, like any abnormal finding on the skin, a definitive conclusion cannot be made without direct visualization of the skin lesion, do you ought to bring it to the attention of your baby's pediatrician to examine it and keep an eye on it with every well-baby visit to the clinic.
