The gastrocnemius muscle of one of my legs is bigger than that of the other leg. It is shown clearly in a bothering way. Do I have to make surgery or there is another solution!?

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
The main issue before thinking what to do to make them the same is that why they are different ,and since when ,this is the important question.you need to figure out the cause before treating it ,check with your doctor to order some tests or MRI,nerve conduction test to see if there any problem .especially if you feel one leg is strong and the other is weak or any pain ,numbness ...or any other symptoms that differ from leg to the other.
The doctor will tell if there a swollen muscle case in the bigger calf muscle,or a dystrophy (losing muscles) in the other calf muscle and then tell according to physical examination what is the cause and then the treatment.
Other thing to note is that if you excercise in gym and you are exercising the right calf muscle more frequent in time and intensity then the left or vice versa ,that also could be a cause and the treatment would be increasing exercising the thin one compared to the other and resting the bigger one .
