Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
And you are under the impression that these are symptoms of cancer in the eyes? First let me reassure you these are not eye cancer symptoms. Deterioration in visual acuity must be assessed by an eye doctor. And dryness by itself, just like poor vision, causes blurring of vision and even worsens poor vision, especially if you regularly use contact lenses and spend long periods of time staring at the computer screen, without using artificial tears. As for the grey spots, these are known as floaters and occur because materials (collagen fibers) that move around in the vitreous humor (the gel-like substance that fills the posterior compartment of the eye). These are not worrisome unless they occur very frequently and/or are accompanied by flickers of light, in which case the integrity of the retina needs to be assessed.
