Dr. Nehme Raad Urology
There are many types of urolithiasis (urinary stones), including: Calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, uric acid, struvite, cystine, xanthine, matrix, medication stones ...
Each of those has its own composition and predisposing factors (such as heriditary, diet issues, disease-related). Even the treatment could differ between different types of stones.
But in general, stone formation can increase in the following settings: low fluid intake, high salt intake, high protein intake.
Specific causes can then be searched for by doing specific blood tests and 24 hours urine collection.
