My sister (22 yrs) has had constant coughing for 3 days. She took cough medicine and wrapped her neck in a scarf and she's not getting any better. What could be the cause and treatment?
more detailed history to know the reason of the cough, in addition to proper physical exam. is her cough dry or any sputum coming out, what color. did she have any flu symptoms before (runny nose, sneezing...) does she have any fever? her cough may be due to bronchitis or viral infection or pneumonia, or asthma, or hyperactive airway disease. so its better to be seen and examined by a physician.
cough medicine are usually for symptoms and not all are useful (the best cough medicine is water) and you need to know the reason of the cough before treating the cough
