My grandmother is 79 years and she is taking levofloxacin ... and from its side effects is nausea and dizziness .. is there any alternative one that has less side effects? ?
The choice of antibiotic treatment is based upon the location of the infection, its severity, and the suspected or documented (by culture) bacteria that underlie it. If the adverse effects are intolerable, the patient must consult with the treating physician regarding alternatives - only he/she has enough information about the infection to be able to determine whether or not an alternative antibiotic can be used, and if so then which one.
