My 2-year old goes to daycare. She gets sick every other week. Twice she got fever for a day and no other symptomes. Her pediatrician says its normal. Is it normal or should I make blood tests for her

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
No need for blood tests, as long as she's growing and developing for her age and gender. The downside of daycare is that kids very frequently catch viral illnesses from each other; these illnesses are usually short-lived (3-4 days max) and self-limited (no treatment required). But keep in mind that if a child's development is affected, this could raise the suspicion of a more serious underlying problem, like an immune deficiency.

Most infants will have repeated viral infection when they first join daycare; it is one way to develop their lifelong immunity. As long as the child is growing fine, no need to worry.
