Teething in and by itself does not produce an elevation in the temperature and symptoms of infection. Your son must have contracted a virus, which is not uncommon at his age. You are advised to monitor his temperature, look out for the appearance of any skin rash (especially along with the disappearance of the fever or defervescene), and make sure you give your son abundant fluids (oral rehydration solution, available ready in drug stores) to prevent dehydration. If the fever does not improve or persists within the coming 48 hours, then it becomes necessary that your baby be examined by his pediatrician in the clinic.
