One possible yet highly unlikely explanation is that tretinoin may cause thinning of the skin. With waxing (hair removal), the wax , when getting removed, is pulling off the upper layer of the skin (the epithelium) with it, leaving behind inflamed skin. Such inflamed areas of skin are not healthy ground for hair growth.
But if you are experiencing scalp hair loss, then a different cause should be looked for, namely, elevated male hormones (androgens) which cause a receding front hair line (known as male pattern baldness) which may be associated with conditions that cause acne, like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), among others.
