vaginal odor is the outocome of vaginal folra, i.e the hundreds of bacteria strain that do exist there, so if the odor is new , so yes it can be an infection... but if it exist since several years, it means that most probably there is no infection. anyway a physical exam is needed, and a vaginal or vulvar culture can help sometimes
