I have recently started exercising extensively and monitoring my food intake. However, my belly seems swollen and very firm all the time, to the extent where I can't even suck it in. Is this normal?

if you're extensively training your abdominal muscles, they increase in size and push the fat layer out.making it swollen(fat+muscle) and firm(muscle). you need to lose weight before doing extensive work out.
