Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
White spots in sun exposed areas can be a form of chronic sun damage called idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis. It is common on forearms and lower legs as small white dots. No real treatment exists. The only treatement is to avoid tanning and use sun screen protection creams to minimize their incidence . Sun spots can be dark or white. White spots can have several causes, and they all share one thing in common, they prevent melanin from being produced in that specific area of the skin, and therefore, cannot alter its pigment. In other words, the skin cannot tan in those small areas.
