I have a pain in the outer arch of my foot. It is not severe but I can feel it when i first walk or after i cross my legs and walk, should i check it?

In order to analyze the causes of pain in any part of the body, we think of the structures that are found in the area of pain, and the roles of these structures in the overall function of the affected area.
Pain in the arch of the foot is commonly the result of inflammation of the tissues that make up the midfoot. The arch of the foot is composed of a broad tight band of fibrous tissue that connects the heel bone (talus) to the toes. The function of this is essential for allowing proper foot mechanics and transfer of weight from the heel to the toes. When the tissue of the arch of the foot is subject to irritation and inflammation, even the simplest and minor movements can precipitate pain.

- pain early in the morning, AND
- pain with walking long distances or prolonged standing.
Another possible cause of plantar fasciitis is excessive stretching of the plantar fascia, usually due to over-pronation (flat feet).
The process that can explain the occurrence of pain in early morning is that the plantar fascia, during sleep, becomes contracted and tight. Upon waking up and rising in the morning, the fascia, which is still tight, becomes especially sensitive to irritation when stretched with the usage of the foot. When walking or standing for long periods, the plantar fascia becomes inflamed and painful as well.
Treatment of plantar fasciitis involves simple stretching exercises, anti-inflammatory medications, and inserts for your shoes. If you have flat feet, you need to wear shoes with an orthotic design that provide a medial heel post and proper arch support.
