Dr. Youssef El Bitar Orthopedic Surgery
Since the xray was clear (that is there was no fracture or subluxation/dislocation), the most probable diagnosis is a wrist sprain. Wrist sprains can result in damage to ligaments, tendons or cartilage structures in the wrist that require treatment. The first treatment option would be splinting for a few days with pain medications.
In order for you to go through the exam, it would be a good idea to put the splint on during the exam and take some pain medications. You can also contact your treating doctor to give you a note to take with you to the testing area. Alternatively, you can tell the people who are examining you about your problem and do the test at a later date.
If your pain does not improve with splinting and pain medications, you will need to have an MRI done to see which ligament, tendon or cartilage was damage, which will guide treatment.
