I have hypertension and I am on medication. Is there a way to stop the drugs?

Dr. Rony Shammas Cardiology
Most cases of Hypertension are primary (meaning they can be treated but not cured). Very few times and especially in younger patients like you, a secondary cause may be identified and treating that cause may enable you to get off the medicine. If you have stage-1 HTN (systolic BP 140-159 or Diastolic BP 90-99) , life style modification such as regular dynamic exercise, weight loss, avoiding non-steroidal medications, limiting or eliminating the salt in your diet and increasing your Potassium intake may lower your BP enough to come off the medicine.
