How to take care of an Aortic valve disease patient to prevent her condition getting worse ?
Apr 24, 2014

Dr. Rony Shammas Cardiology
It depends what king of problem and how severe it is. The two most common aortic valve problems are aortic regurgitation ( the valve does not close well and some blood tends to "leak" back into the left ventricle after it is pumped out) and aortic stenosis ( here the valve is rigid and does not open well to allow easy exit of the blood from the left ventricle). Depending on the degree and severity of the problem, you may or may not need an intervention. Aside from controlling high blood pressure that may help with cases of severe aortic regurgitation, there are really no preventative measures or medicines that you can do/take to prevent progression.
