May 13, 2013

Dr. Salim Saab Otolaryngology (ENT)
Salt restriction, diuretics and SSRI (Selective Serotonine Reuptake Inhibitor)... are helpful in reducing severe symptoms of PMS.

Dr. Karim Nawfal Obstetrics & Gynecology
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) are reason of physical and emotional symptoms (bloating, breast tenderness, headache, irritabiltity etc...) before and during the first few days of the period.
Exercise and relaxation techniques sometimes are enough. If not then medications are needed and these might include a certain type of contraceptive pills, diuretics, SSRI medications, and sometimes it might be severe enough that we need to suppress ovulation.
A thorough evealuation of your symptoms with your gynecologist is warranted and then the appropriate therapy can be decided.
