Of course this is not sepsis. Sepsis is associated with severe illness and results from the spread of dangerous bacteria throughout the blood stream, with eventual damage to one or more organs. The patient experiences fever, shaking chills, and hypotension (significant drop in the blood pressure). What you describe is most likely due to the pain associated with the cut especially while cleansing it, and probably because of the sight of blood and the deep wound as well. I advise you to seek out medical attention to check if the wound needs suturing and/or topical antibiotic cream.
