Does baking soda with lemon really whiten teeth? Does it have any side effects?
Sep 20, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Baking soda does help in mildly whitening teeth, but not lemon, as the acid in it would harm the enamel and as such it is not recommended for this purpose. It is worthy to note that the color of the teeth is at least in part genetically determined and there is an extent to which natural interventions can help, which is usually in stain removal, but not in a radical change in the natural tooth color.

Adding to Dr Dimassi's accurate information, you should keep in mind that current whitening products bare protection and fluid for the teeth so that even if you do whiten your teeth, sensitivity and damage is to a bare minimum.
