Can I break my fast if I'm very dehydrated or is it normal?
Jun 3, 2015

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
There are degrees to dehydration: we look at certain physical signs (heart rate, blood pressure, skin hydration, eyes, tongue, superficial veins) to estimate the extent of dehydration. A healthy adult is not expected to reach severe dehydration upon fasting, hence it is not logical to say that fasting-associated dehydration dictates that one breaks their fast, unless clinically indicated, i.e., there are signs of severe dehydration.
