Am I allowed to drink coffee if i'm pregnant? and what is the limit?
Sep 26, 2013

Dr. Bassem Tanios Nephrology
There has been some concerns that high intake of caffeine during pregnancy may increase the risk for miscarriage and preterm birth.

According to the guidelines by the American College of Obstetricians and gynecologists (ACOG), intake of moderate amounts of caffeine daily ( less than 200 mg) which is equivalent to about 1 or 2 cups of coffee per day, is generally safe during pregnancy.

It is important to note that beverages other than coffee contain caffeine and should be accounted for to a total daily dose of less than 200mg of caffeine, such as tea and soft drinks.

Below is the link for the full review concerning pregnancy and caffeine intake from ACOG, with a nice table showing the caffeine amount of caffeinated beverages.
