A sac like in my umbilicus that secreted bloody puss once. Hair grows inside it too. Is that an indication for hair cyst formation?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Umbilical infections can occur because of an embryologic remnant ofthe uumbilical duct (which in the uterus carries 2 arteries and 1 vein and transports nutrients from the mother's blood circulation through the placenta and into the fetus, then into the fetus liver) or poor hygiene. Traditionally, bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogens, were most commonly identified. Nowadays other types of bacteria and multiple bacterial infections are seen , especially in rapidly progressing cellulitis (superficial skin infection that progresses quickly) and necrotizing fasciitis.(deeper tissues are infected and die if not treated).
Whatyou hhave sounds like an umbilical granuloma which appear as 1-mm to 1-cm, pink, friable growth at the base of the umbilicus. It secretes variable amounts of drainage that can irritate the surrounding skin. An umbilical polyp is brighter red than a granuloma and represents retained intestinal or gastric mucosa that did not regress after birth as they're supposed to.
Silver nitrate is the mainstay of treatment. If no response, surgical intervention.

Development of the umbilicus is one of the most complex embryological processes in human beings and due to this it is subject to a large number of malformations.
The majority of these malformations manifest in the neonatal period. But rarely, these congenital malformations may present in young adults and they most commonly present with discharge through the umbilicus.
the major common causes might be :
umbilical discharge due to laparoscopic surgery if you had done a surgery before ,patent urachal anomalies,This is the most common cause.
umbilical discharge due to laparoscopic surgery and umbilical hernia with ulceration. Umbilical abscess, vitelline umbilical sinus and recurrent folliculitis
However, the most common causes of umbilical discharge in adults are acquired conditions, such as pilonidal sinus disease, infection due to hair tufts and foreign bodies, and non-specific acute and chronic inflammation and abscess of the umbilicus
Umbilical discharge in any age should be evaluated by the doctor and necessary treatments should be done ,it may need drainage of the discharge ,antibiotic treatments ,and in more severe cases might need surgical intervention .
