Dr. Ziad Tannous Orthopedic Surgery
the work up of a lateral meniscus tear depends on the type and location of the tear, as well as the presence of associated injuries .
Grossly the meniscus is divided into 3 zones ( red pink and white ) depending on the vasculature , tears in the red and to a lesser degree in the pink could be treated by suture , the rest by excision . depending on the type of tear , oblique , radial , complex , bucket handle . your surgeon will decide the type of menisectomy ( total vs partial ) or suture that would be done .
all the afore mentionned procedures are done via arthroscopy , and post op rehab is quite fast ( suture cases excluded ! )
