13 mm polyp detected in my gallbladder is it a major issue ?
Nov 28, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Given the fact that the polyp is relatively small in size and that most gall bladder polyps are incidental findings and are benign in nature, you do not need to be worried about this polyp. A follow-up ultrasound would be recommended in a few months.

Dr. Ghassan Nawfal Surgery
Polyps less than 6mmm are probably benign and, with no other signs, are left alone.
Polyps 6mm to 1 cm are observed closely for any change in size on serial ultrasounds every 3-6 months.
Polyps greater than 1 cm are considered large and, even though the majority may turn out to be benign, they carry a certain risk and should be treated by cholecystectomy.
